The best time to invest in training is now

The biggest decisions facing dentists every day don’t have to do with dental materials or where to place a margin. Yet, when it comes time to book continuing education, the technical aspect of dentistry is where we spend most of our time. In retrospect, we dentists would have benefitted from undergraduate majors in business, marketing, accounting, or even psychology.

Then, when questions like, “What type of practice we want, where do I want to locate it, and will we be insurance dependant?” are presented we would know how to approach it as a business person.

But it’s not too late. Take advantage of one dentist’s journey and her willingness to share her successes and failures.

In this fun and frank course Amy Norman will discuss the biggest decision points of her career and how she built the practice of her dreams.  You and your team will leave the course energized and excited about the future of your practice.

Learning objectives:

  • Learn how to apply business principals to dental practice management.
  • Increase understanding of the balance between logical and emotional decision making.
  • Help the dentist and the team member understand the vital role they each play in practice success.

Amy Norman, DDS

Ever since the 4th grade Amy Norman has had dental ambitions. She began dental assisting at the age of 16 and worked her way through college as an assistant in various dental specialties.  To date she has worked in the dental field for 25 years.  She was granted early acceptance to dental school at the University of Washington and received her DDS degree in 1995. Dr. Norman owns a solo dental practice in Everett Washington devoted to exceptional cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry.  She is a Fellow of and clinical instructor at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies where she re-kindles her passion mentoring some of the best clinicians in the world.  Her practice has been fee-for-service and insurance independent since 1998.  She is a proud member of the IACA, AGD and DOCS.

In addition to changing lives and smiles, Dr. Norman enjoys spreading the word about loving life and enjoying the journey.  She speaks to dental and non-dental groups about the amazing possibilities in modern dentistry, how to hire and retain fabulous employees and how to market the small business.  As a mom to three, wife to one, leader of five and friend to many, Amy appreciates the preciousness of our most valuable resource: time.
